Why Specialized Tarmac?

From the Tour of Flanders to the Tour de France, the S-Works Tarmac SL3 is the bike of choice for Fabian Cancellara and Alberto Contador. Like the team bikes of Saxo Bank - Sungaard

These are limited edition frame sets normally reserved for the Pro's.

Team HTC is a limited edition frame. These are the real deal S-Works production frame not normally available to to mortals like us.

High modulus carbon frame made from our most advanced carbon construction method.

WHY:

Gives our Tarmac the highest stiffness to- weight ratio on the market, which makes for an absurdly light and fast bike.

HOW:

Divides frame into four monocoque sections—with carbon fibers running continuously from tube to tube within each section—for more precise optimization of tubes shapes, sizes, and joints.

Strategically designed head tube/steerer assembly that tapers from 1-1/8” at the top to 1-1/2” at the crown.

WHY:

Increases strength and stiffness for greater steering precision.

HOW:

The wider base creates a naturally stiffer junction, and the gradual transition of carbon fiber from top to bottom eliminates the potential for weak spots due to sharp angles (carbon is at its best when it keeps a smooth line).
