It's been an extra wet and muddy winter this year in Christchurch. With the trails closed so much, it's been hard to get out. But, this past weekend was beautiful with two good days of riding.
Hope everyone had a good Queen's Birthday weekend. We spent some time with family in Westport and made time for an overnighter on the Heaphy Track. We were lucky to get the ride done just before the weather really turned bad that Sunday night on the coast.
Kerry and I rode the northern end of The Old Ghost Road, which starts in Seddonvile. Parking at the Rough and Tumble Lodge, we rode up to Specimen Point Hut and then on to the Mokihinui Forks Hut before coming back. It's about 42km with 1200m of climbing for a full day out.
The Pipeline rips! Rocky Mountain's trail geometry is spot on with a decently slack head angle and the 2.8" Rekon is wide, but not too wide to have that vague, floaty feel that plus bikes can sometimes have.
