This is an open standard which ushers in a new set frame requirements, new cranks, and new bottom brackets.
The system touts an aluminum spindle 30mm in diameter, hence the name.
The system requires an oversized 68mm or 73mm wide bottom bracket shell and press fit bearings held in place with snap rings.
SRAM/Truvativ, FSA and Cannondale, Specialized, Storck offer BB30 cranksets.
