Lighter, faster and smarter than ever.
With a Rider-First Engineered design, refined and improved Brain suspension, and a redesigned frame, the new Epic is the fastest, most capable, and best fitting XC bike Specialized has ever created.
Key Updates
Lighter
First introduced on the Tarmac, Rider-First Engineered is a technology that brings unique carbon layups and tube shapes for every frame size, giving the rider a specifically tuned ride-quality for that size frame.
Smarter
The new Brain builds upon everything that was great from earlier iterations. Moving it closer to the axle makes for a more responsive system. Oil porting and flow paths have been reengineered to reduce oil turbulence and provide more consistent damping. Watch the video.
Faster
XC racing has significantly changed with rough sections of trail that could be mistaken for an enduro stage. The reach was increased to make for a longer, more stable front end, stems shortened and head angles slackened by 1.5 degrees to create a bike that's much more confident at speed and descending through steep and rough terrain.
Full Carbon Frames
All of the new carbon Epics have a full carbon rear end, a first for Specialized. To further save weight, the Horst link's rear pivot is removed with stays that are engineered to flex through the suspension's travel. The new Epics are also compatible with full-length dropper posts.
