The Allen S303 Premier Spare Tyre Rack carries up to three bikes on compatible vehicles with a rear-mounted external spare tyre.
Its quick-set frame arrives ready to unfold, while dual-compound cradles support the bikes and hold them individually along the carry arms. The rack positions the bikes high enough to help keep them away from the road and hot exhaust.
Quick-Set Folding Frame
The carry arms snap into their working position without complicated assembly and fold down when the rack is not being used.
This makes the S303 easier to store and quicker to set up than a rack that needs to be assembled before each trip.
Supports the Rack Against the Tyre
An extra-wide lower foot supports the rack against the spare tyre rather than placing the load directly against the wheel rim.
The spare tyre must be securely mounted and fully inflated before the rack is installed. Remove any spare-wheel cover that could be damaged by the rack or prevent it from sitting correctly.
Three-Bike Capacity
The S303 carries up to three bikes. Each bike must weigh no more than 16kg and the complete bike load must not exceed 45kg.
Load the heaviest bike closest to the vehicle, followed by the lighter bikes. Alternate the direction of neighbouring bikes where necessary and protect any points where the bikes could contact each other.
Bike and Frame Compatibility
The hanging design works directly with many conventional diamond-frame bikes. Step-through, compact, children’s and some full-suspension frames may require an Allen adaptor bar to sit safely and level on the carry arms.
The 16kg-per-bike limit makes this rack unsuitable for most heavy e-bikes. Tandems, mopeds and recumbent bikes must not be carried.
Vehicle Compatibility
The S303 fits many vehicles with a securely mounted external rear spare tyre, including some vehicles with an over-the-tyre third brake light.
It does not fit the Jeep Wrangler JL. Spare-tyre position, tyre size, rear-door shape, bumper design and light placement can all affect fit, so vehicle compatibility should be confirmed before purchase.

Our Thoughts
The S303 is a useful solution when your vehicle has an external spare tyre and fitting a towbar-mounted rack is not practical. It is quick to unfold, relatively straightforward to load and keeps the bikes higher than many boot-mounted racks.
Vehicle fit is the part we would check carefully. External spare tyres sit in different positions and some vehicles have covers, cameras, lights or rear-door shapes that can interfere with the rack.
We would also stay within the 45kg combined limit stated in Allen’s instructions. Three bikes weighing 16kg each would exceed that total, so the individual and combined limits both need to be checked.
