A Capable 24-Inch Bike for Young Riders Ready to Explore Further.
The Apex Terrain 24 is built for young riders who are ready for longer rides and more varied terrain. Its lightweight 6061 alloy frame, Shimano 8-speed drivetrain, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes and wider all-terrain tyres make it a confident choice for neighbourhood riding, bike paths, gravel trails and family adventures.
Finished in Stealth Matte Black, the Terrain 24 uses a low stand-over frame that is easy to get on and off, with an adjustable saddle position to help achieve a comfortable fit as your child grows.
Shimano Essa 8-Speed Gearing
The Terrain 24 uses a Shimano Rapidfire Plus 8-speed shifter and Shimano Essa Shadow rear derailleur, paired with a 12–32T cassette. This gives young riders a useful spread of gears for pedalling comfortably on the flat and managing moderate climbs without making shifting overly complicated.
The 30T chainring and double chain guard keep the drivetrain simple and practical, while 152 mm cranks are proportioned for growing riders.
Hydraulic Disc Brake Confidence
Tektro HD-M275 hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors provide powerful, predictable stopping control in wet and dry conditions. Hydraulic braking gives young riders good lever feel and confidence when controlling speed on hills, paths and longer family rides.
Built for Everyday Adventure
The lightweight alloy frame and fork help keep the bike manageable, while 24 × 2.4-inch CST all-terrain tyres provide extra comfort and grip on mixed surfaces. A 620 mm-wide alloy handlebar gives the rider a stable, confident steering position.

Who Is It For?
The Apex Terrain 24 is designed for children approximately 130–150 cm tall, generally around ages 9–12. It is a great next step for a rider who is confident using gears and hand brakes and wants a bike that can handle longer rides and a wider variety of surfaces.
Fit matters more than age, so the rider should be able to stand comfortably over the bike, reach the brake levers and handlebar controls and safely manage the bike at slow speed.
Our Thoughts
The Terrain 24 is a proper step up for a young rider who is starting to outgrow basic kids’ bikes. Shimano Essa gearing, hydraulic disc brakes and wider all-terrain tyres make it a versatile bike for Christchurch paths, family rides and easy gravel adventures. It has enough capability to keep an enthusiastic rider interested without becoming unnecessarily complicated.
