The Bleedkit Basic Edition is a straightforward kit for servicing compatible Shimano flat-bar hydraulic brakes. It includes the lever funnel, caliper syringe, guided hose fitting and small workshop extras needed to carry out a controlled brake bleed.
This is a good choice when you already have the correct Shimano bleed block and only need the core bleeding equipment.
Please Note: Mineral Oil and Bleed Block Are Not Included
You will need to supply the correct Shimano mineral oil and a suitable bleed block for your brake caliper. Remove the brake pads before bleeding to protect them from contamination.
Made for Shimano Flat-Bar Brakes
The M5-threaded funnel fits compatible Shimano flat-bar brake levers. At the caliper end, the syringe, durable hose and stainless steel tube insert provide a guided connection at the bleed nipple.
The supplied clamp can be used to control the hose during a gravity bleed, while the threaded oil stopper seals the funnel when required.
Not for Shimano Road or Gravel Brakes
This kit does not include the adapter or smaller bleed block required for Shimano drop-bar hydraulic brakes.
For Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105, Tiagra or GRX hydraulic brakes, choose a compatible Bleedkit Premium Road or Workshop Edition kit instead.

Mineral Oil Only
Shimano hydraulic brakes use mineral oil. Never use DOT brake fluid with this kit and keep the syringe, hose and funnel separate from equipment that has been used with DOT fluid.
Mineral oil and DOT fluid are not interchangeable. Cross-contamination can damage brake seals and affect braking performance.
Our Thoughts
This is a sensible, affordable kit if you already own the right bleed block and only work on Shimano flat-bar brakes. It includes the essential fittings without adding the road adapter, extra blocks or workshop accessories found in the more expensive kits.
If you service both mountain bike and Shimano road or gravel brakes, the Workshop Edition is the better choice.
