SRAM 3-Bolt Fitment. Boost Chainline. Dependable Chain Retention.
The Burgtec SRAM 3-Bolt Boost Chainring is a replacement or gearing upgrade for compatible SRAM mountain bike cranksets. Its 3mm offset is designed for a standard Boost setup, while the Thick Thin tooth profile helps keep the chain securely engaged through rough and muddy terrain.
Chain Reaction stocks this round chainring in 30T, and 32 sizes, with several Burgtec colour options available.
Compatibility
- Fits compatible SRAM mountain bike cranksets using the 3-bolt direct-mount interface
- Suitable for compatible SRAM GXP and DUB cranksets
- 3mm offset for a standard Boost drivetrain setup
- Compatible with suitable SRAM and Shimano 10, 11 and 12-speed chains
- Designed for 1x mountain bike drivetrains
- Available in 30T, 32T sizes
This chainring does not fit SRAM Eagle Transmission 8-bolt cranksets or Shimano direct-mount cranks. Check the mounting interface on the back of your existing chainring before ordering rather than relying on the crank’s GXP or DUB spindle type alone.
Choose the Right Tooth Count
- 30T: Easier climbing for steep terrain, technical trails and heavier bikes
- 32T: Versatile gearing for general trail and all-mountain riding
A smaller chainring makes climbing easier but reduces the highest available gear. A larger ring provides more speed before spinning out but requires more effort on steep climbs. Check chainstay and frame clearance before increasing the tooth count.
Thick Thin Chain Retention
Burgtec’s alternating thick and thin teeth match the changing internal widths of the chain links. This helps guide the chain onto the ring and keeps it more securely engaged when riding over roots, rocks and braking bumps.
The tooth profile also provides clearance for mud and debris. Correct chain length, chain condition and rear-derailleur clutch operation remain important for dependable performance.
Lightweight Aluminium Construction
The chainring is made from aerospace-grade aluminium to provide a useful balance of strength, wear resistance and low weight. Its direct-mount construction removes the need for a separate chainring spider and gives the drivetrain a clean appearance.
This is a round chainring rather than an oval model. It is designed and tested in the Peak District in the UK.

Our Thoughts
This is a good option for riders with an established SRAM 3-bolt drivetrain who need a replacement chainring or want to change their gearing. A 30T ring suits steeper terrain, while 32T is the natural all-round choice for most trail bikes. We would choose 34T when maintaining speed matters more than having the easiest possible climbing gear.
The main thing to check is the mounting interface. GXP and DUB describe SRAM spindle systems, but both have been used with different chainring mounts. Confirm that your crank uses the older 3-bolt interface and requires a 3mm Boost offset before ordering.
We also recommend checking chain wear before installing a new ring. A heavily worn chain can engage poorly and shorten the life of the new chainring.
