Proper Flat-Pedal Grip Without the Alloy Price.
The Burgtec MK4 Composite Pedals bring dependable grip, a supportive platform and replaceable pins to a more affordable composite body. They are a practical choice for trail bikes, enduro bikes, hardtails and e-MTBs where secure footing and durability matter more than having an alloy pedal body.
The broad 96mm × 102mm platform gives your shoes a stable base, while a shallow concave shape helps keep your feet centred over rough ground.
Stable and Grippy Platform
The MK4 Composite has a 1mm dish, creating a slightly concave platform that helps your foot settle naturally into the middle of the pedal. Replaceable steel pins provide the traction needed for rough trails, wet roots and loose terrain.
The pins can be replaced individually when they become worn or damaged, extending the useful life of the pedals. Pairing them with proper flat-pedal shoes will provide noticeably more grip and control than using soft running shoes.
Durable Composite Body
The pedal body is made from a nylon-and-fibreglass composite. This keeps the price and weight sensible while providing the durability required for regular mountain bike use.
Composite bodies are also a good option for riders who regularly clip rocks. They will still show wear, but scratches and marks are generally less noticeable than they are on anodised alloy pedals.
At 16mm thick, the platform provides a relatively low-profile connection to the bike without feeling insubstantial underfoot.
Strong Cro-Mo Axle
An SCM415 chromoly steel axle supports the pedal body and provides the strength needed for trail and gravity riding. The complete pair weighs approximately 376g, making the MK4 Composite competitive with many more expensive flat pedals.

Our Thoughts
The MK4 Composite is the model we would choose when dependable grip and value matter more than having an alloy pedal. The platform provides good support beneath the shoe and the replaceable pins mean the pedals can be maintained after regular trail use.
The main difference compared with Burgtec’s alloy pedals is the body material rather than the intended use. Riders wanting the finish and feel of a machined alloy platform may still prefer the Penthouse Flat range, but the MK4 Composite delivers plenty of grip for considerably less money.
Correct installation matters. The left and right pedals use different thread directions, so check the axle markings before fitting them. Apply suitable grease to the threads and tighten each pedal to the crank manufacturer’s specification.
