A clean, leverless rear axle for compatible non-UDH Transition mountain bikes.
The Burgtec Transition 171mm Rear Axle replaces the original axle on compatible Transition bikes using a 12×148mm Boost rear hub and Syntace-style dropout.
Machined from 7075 aluminium, it combines a strong, lightweight construction with a tidy leverless profile. A 6mm hex fitting at each end provides two points for installation and removal, while a replacement dropout bolt is also included.
Check Your Transition Frame
This 171mm axle fits compatible Transition 12×148mm Boost frames without a Universal Derailleur Hanger. It does not fit Transition frames using UDH, which require Burgtec’s longer 175mm Transition UDH axle.
Boost spacing alone does not confirm compatibility. The axle length, diameter, thread pitch and dropout design must all match the frame.

If either number matches the original axle specified for your frame, this is the correct Burgtec replacement. If you are unsure, check your bike’s model year and original axle before ordering.
Dual 6mm Hex Fittings
The axle is normally installed and removed from the non-drive side using a 6mm hex key. A second 6mm interface on the drive side provides another removal point if the main fitting becomes damaged or rounded.
Use a clean, correctly fitting hex tool and start the axle by hand to reduce the risk of cross-threading. Follow Transition’s tightening instructions for your frame rather than using a generic axle torque.
7075 Aluminium Construction
The axle is machined from 7075 aluminium for a useful balance of strength, stiffness and low weight. Its leverless design provides good clearance around the dropout and removes the external handle found on a quick-release axle.
