Carbon Frame Built for Speed

The SuperX carbon frame combines aerodynamic shaping with a responsive feel for accelerating, climbing and riding at pace. Cannondale’s Proportional Response construction adjusts the frame design across the size range to suit different riders.

Internal cable routing keeps the frame tidy, while a BSA threaded bottom bracket and UDH-compatible rear derailleur mount use practical standards for servicing and component replacement.

Shimano GRX Mechanical Gearing

Shimano GRX 820 provides dependable mechanical shifting designed for gravel riding. The 2 × 12-speed setup offers smaller steps between many gears than a wide-range 1x drivetrain, which is useful when you want to hold a steady cadence on sealed roads or fast gravel.

The Shimano 105 11–36T cassette provides a useful range for rolling terrain and climbs. With cable-operated shifting, there are no drivetrain batteries to charge before your next ride.

DT Swiss Wheels and Vittoria Tyres

DT Swiss G1800 Spline wheels are paired with DT Swiss 370 hubs and Vittoria Terreno T50 700 × 40c tyres. The 40 mm tyres provide useful volume for gravel while rolling well on the sealed sections between routes.

The tyres are tubeless-ready and tubeless valves are listed with the bike. Sealant and final setup may still be required. Talk to our workshop if you would like help setting the bike up tubeless.

Control When the Gravel Gets Loose

Cannondale’s OutFront steering geometry pairs a relaxed head angle with a 55 mm fork offset. It helps the bike feel settled on loose surfaces and at speed, while remaining responsive when you need to change your line.

Shimano GRX 820 hydraulic disc brakes provide controlled stopping power on gravel descents and in changing weather. The bike uses 160 mm Shimano CL800 rotors front and rear.

Delta Steerer and Conceal Stem

The Delta Steerer and Cannondale C1 Conceal stem route cables neatly through the front of the bike. The compact Cannondale C2 alloy handlebar provides a familiar position for riding on the hoods or in the drops.

At the saddle, the C1 Aero 27 carbon seatpost has a D-shaped profile designed to provide controlled flex while keeping the frame’s streamlined appearance.

Room for Wider Tyres

Cannondale lists SuperX clearance for tyres up to 48 mm at the frame and 51 mm at the fork. The frame is the limiting point when choosing tyres for both wheels.

Actual tyre width depends on the tyre, rim and pressure. The front derailleur may also affect clearance on a 2x setup, so check the measured clearance before fitting wider tyres and allow extra room for mud.

Our Thoughts

The SuperX 3 is a good choice if you want a fast gravel bike without moving to electronic shifting. GRX 820 is a dependable mechanical groupset, and the 2x drivetrain makes sense for rides that mix gravel with longer sealed-road sections.

Compared with the Topstone, the SuperX is more focused on speed and has a more direct feel, without Kingpin rear suspension. If comfort on long, rough roads is your main priority, the Topstone may suit you better. If you enjoy fast gravel rides and events, the SuperX is worth a closer look.
