Description

A fast carbon gravel bike with wireless shifting, carbon wheels and power measurement.

The Cannondale SuperX 1 is built for riders who like to push the pace when the road turns to gravel. Its carbon frame, SRAM Force XPLR AXS drivetrain and DT Swiss GRC 1400 carbon wheels make it a serious option for gravel racing, fast group rides and long mixed-surface events.

Finished in Moonrock, the SuperX combines race-focused handling with 40 mm Vittoria tyres and room for wider rubber when your route calls for it.

Not sure which model is right for you? Read our Cannondale gravel bike buyer’s guide or browse the full gravel bike collection.

Carbon Frame Built for Speed

The SuperX carbon frame combines aerodynamic shaping with a responsive feel for accelerating, climbing and riding at pace. Cannondale’s Proportional Response construction adjusts the carbon layup across the size range to suit different riders.

Internal cable routing keeps the frame tidy, while a BSA threaded bottom bracket and UDH-compatible rear derailleur mount use practical standards for servicing and component replacement.

SRAM Force XPLR AXS

SRAM Force XPLR AXS gives the SuperX wireless electronic shifting with a simple single-chainring setup. The 13-speed 10–46T cassette provides a useful range for rolling gravel, faster road sections and climbs.

Force hydraulic disc brakes provide controlled stopping power when the surface gets loose or the weather changes. An SRAM AXS charger is listed with the bike, so you can keep the derailleur battery ready for your next ride.

Power Meter Included

The SRAM Force XPLR AXS crankset includes a power meter, giving you a way to measure your effort without adding a separate crankset or power pedals.

Pair it with a compatible cycling computer to track your output during training, pace a long climb or keep an eye on your effort during an event. If you are new to riding with power, we can help you get started at handover.

DT Swiss GRC 1400 Carbon Wheels

DT Swiss GRC 1400 DICUT carbon wheels give the SuperX a responsive feel when you pick up the pace. The 50 mm-deep rims have a 24 mm internal width and are paired with DT Swiss 240 hubs and Aero Comp spokes.

Vittoria Terreno T50 700 × 40c tyres provide a fast-rolling setup for gravel and mixed surfaces. The wheels and tyres are tubeless-ready, and tubeless valves are listed with the bike. Sealant and final tubeless setup may still be required.

Control on Loose Gravel

Cannondale’s OutFront steering geometry pairs a relaxed head angle with a 55 mm fork offset. It helps the front end feel settled on loose surfaces and at speed, while remaining responsive when you need to change your line.

The SuperX is also suited to cyclocross. Fit suitable cyclocross tyres and it can be used for racing between the tape as well as longer gravel events.

SystemBar R-One Carbon Cockpit

The Cannondale SystemBar R-One combines the handlebar and stem in one carbon cockpit, with internal routing for a clean front end. Bar width and stem length vary with frame size.

The integrated design looks tidy and keeps the cockpit streamlined, but changing the bar width or stem length involves replacing the complete bar and stem. Getting the fit right before ordering is worthwhile.

Room for Wider Tyres

Cannondale lists clearance for tyres up to 48 mm at the frame and 51 mm at the fork, with at least 4 mm of clearance on each side. The frame is the limiting point when choosing tyres for both wheels.

Actual tyre width depends on the tyre, rim and pressure. Check the measured clearance of your chosen setup, particularly if you plan to ride in mud.

  • Riders training and pacing events with power
  • Anyone wanting wireless shifting and carbon wheels
  • Riders looking for a premium gravel race bike

Our Thoughts

The SuperX 1 is the Cannondale we would look at if you want a fast gravel bike with the upgrades already fitted. Force XPLR AXS keeps shifting simple, the power meter gives you useful training data, and the DT Swiss wheels are a quality part of the build.

Compared with the Topstone, the SuperX is more focused on speed and has a more direct feel, without Kingpin rear suspension. If comfort on long, rough roads is your main priority, the Topstone may suit you better. If racing and fast rides are what you enjoy, the SuperX is worth a closer look.
