Description

A compact saddle built for dirt jump, slopestyle and riders who need something they can grip and move around.

Developed with Brandon Semenuk, the Chromag Overture is designed around the way dirt jump and slopestyle riders actually use a saddle. Rather than focusing purely on seated comfort, its compact shape gives you something you can grip and pinch with your legs during tricks while still staying out of the way when you're moving around the bike.

The 243mm length and slim 136mm width keep the saddle compact, while subtle flares towards the rear give your legs something to locate against. A silicone-printed grip zone adds extra purchase when pinching the saddle during no-hand tricks and other manoeuvres.

The synthetic cover uses Kevlar panels in high-wear areas, making the Overture well suited to bikes that are likely to see plenty of knocks and hard use. Underneath, 8mm chromoly rails provide a strong, proven platform.

Although primarily designed for dirt jump and slopestyle bikes, the Overture is also used on downhill and freeride bikes where a compact, durable saddle is more important than having a large seated platform.

Why Choose the Chromag Overture?

The Overture is a fairly specialised saddle. If most of your riding involves sitting and pedalling for hours, we'd look elsewhere in the Chromag range.

For dirt jump and slopestyle riding, though, the compact shape makes a lot of sense. It's narrow enough to move around easily but has been deliberately shaped so you can grip it with your legs when you're throwing tricks.

Our Thoughts

This isn't a saddle we'd choose based on sit-bone width in the same way we would a trail, gravel or road saddle. The Overture has a different job.

If you're riding dirt jumps or slopestyle, you need a saddle that stays out of the way most of the time but is easy to find and grip when you actually need it. The silicone grip area and little bit of flare towards the back are there for exactly that reason.

We've also seen this style of saddle make sense on downhill and freeride bikes where you're rarely sitting down for long periods. For a normal trail bike where you're doing plenty of seated climbing, we'd choose something designed more around seated support and comfort.
