The Chromag Trailmaster DT takes the familiar Trailmaster shape and adds a durable synthetic cover that's better suited to riders who regularly deal with wet conditions or want something tough for downhill and freeride use.

The 140mm-wide platform has a relatively flat sitting area that supports your sit bones, with central relief to help reduce pressure through the middle. Medium-firm foam provides support without making the saddle overly soft, while additional padding through the nose is useful when you're sitting forward on steep, technical climbs.

The rounded perimeter is another part of what makes the Trailmaster work well on a mountain bike. There are no sharp or awkward edges to catch your shorts when you're standing, getting behind the saddle or moving around through technical terrain.

The DT version uses a seamless synthetic cover rather than leather, making it a practical choice for bikes that see plenty of mud, wet weather and regular hard use. Chromoly rails provide strength and durability underneath.

Why Choose the Chromag Trailmaster DT?

The DT is the Trailmaster we'd look at if your bike spends plenty of time in wet and muddy conditions. You get the same general Trailmaster approach – a supportive platform, padded nose and smooth shape – but with a synthetic cover that's designed to take more abuse.

It also makes sense for downhill and freeride bikes where durability is more important than having a premium leather finish.

Our Thoughts

For New Zealand riding, the DT version makes a lot of sense. If your mountain bike regularly comes home covered in mud or gets ridden through winter, we'd take the practical synthetic cover over leather.

The shape is still what matters most, though. The Trailmaster gives you a good place to sit when you're climbing and the rounded edges don't get in the way once you're standing and moving around the bike.

At 140mm wide it won't suit everyone, so we'd still start with saddle fit rather than choosing the DT simply because it's tough. If the Trailmaster shape works for you and you want the version that's easier to live with through wet riding and regular bike washing, this is the one we'd choose.
