The Chromag Trailmaster has been around for a long time for good reason. It's a straightforward trail saddle designed to give you good support when you're seated while still being easy to move around when the trail gets technical.
The medium-sized platform has a flat sitting area that encourages your weight onto your sit bones, with central relief to help reduce pressure through the middle of the saddle. Medium-firm foam provides support without feeling overly soft, while additional padding through the nose is useful when you're perched forward on steep, technical climbs.
Around the outside, Chromag has kept the profile smooth and rounded. There aren't any sharp edges or awkward sections to catch your shorts when you're getting behind the saddle or moving around the bike.
This version uses a seamless, perforated natural leather cover with chromoly rails underneath for strength and durability.

Why Choose the Chromag Trailmaster?
The Trailmaster is a good option if you prefer a traditional-length MTB saddle with a supportive, fairly flat sitting area. There's enough padding for longer rides without making the saddle excessively soft, and the padded nose is genuinely useful when you're sitting forward to keep the front wheel down on a steep climb.
Its rounded shape is also important on a trail bike. When you're standing and moving around, you don't want your shorts catching on the edge of the saddle every time you shift your weight.
Our Thoughts
The Trailmaster is a pretty traditional-looking mountain bike saddle, and that's part of its appeal. It's not trying to be ultra-short or particularly lightweight. It's built around giving you a good place to sit when you're pedalling, while staying out of the way when you're not.
We particularly like the padded nose for technical climbing. If you're riding steep trails, there are times when you're right on the front of the saddle trying to keep some weight over the front wheel, and a bit of extra padding there is welcome.
At 140mm wide, though, it won't suit everybody. The shape and width still need to work with your sit-bone width and riding position, rather than simply choosing it because it's labelled as a trail saddle.
