Stan’s Flow EX3 E-Sync wheels combine impact-resistant Flow EX3 aluminium rims with reinforced E-Sync hubs. They are designed for downhill, enduro, e-MTB and aggressive trail riding where strength and durability matter more than keeping weight to an absolute minimum.

Front and rear wheels are sold individually. Choose from a 29-inch front, 29-inch rear or 27.5-inch rear wheel. A complete wheelset requires one compatible front and one rear wheel.

Rim tape and a tubeless valve are installed, preparing each wheel for a compatible tubeless tyre and sealant.

Flow EX3 Tiebeam Rim

The Flow EX3 rim uses Stan’s Tiebeam triple-cavity construction to brace the sidewalls against heavy impacts. This helps the rim resist folding during a hard strike, reducing the chance of sudden air loss or structural damage.

Its low-profile shape balances lateral stiffness with radial compliance, providing support through corners without creating an unnecessarily harsh ride.

The 29mm internal width works well with trail, enduro and downhill tyres between approximately 2.35 and 2.8 inches wide. The rim is made from durable welded 6069 aluminium.

Reinforced E-Sync Hubs

E-Sync hubs are built to cope with hard landings, wet riding and the additional drivetrain torque produced by an e-MTB. The rear hub uses a chromoly axle, reinforced pawls and a heat-treated steel ratchet ring.

Enduro bearings include a double-row freehub bearing for additional load capacity. The rear hub provides 8.18-degree engagement for a responsive feel without sacrificing the strength required for demanding riding.

Our Thoughts

This is the Flow EX3 option we would look at for an e-MTB or a gravity bike where hub strength is just as important as rim durability. The E-Sync rear hub is designed to handle higher torque, while the Flow EX3 rim provides extra protection against impact damage and air loss.
