The Giro Chamber III MTB Clip Shoes are designed for downhill, enduro and aggressive trail riders who want a secure connection with their pedals without giving up walking grip or comfort.
This latest version is lighter and slimmer than the previous Chamber while retaining the durability and supportive feel that made the range popular with gravity riders. A supple microfibre upper, lace-and-strap closure and Giro Sensor rubber outsole create a shoe that feels stable on rough descents but remains practical when it is time to pedal or walk.
Lighter and Less Bulky
Giro has refined the Chamber III with a slimmer shape, a supple microfibre upper and a low-bulk tongue.
At approximately 480g per shoe in size 43, it remains a solid gravity shoe but is lighter and less cumbersome than earlier Chamber models. The reduced bulk makes it more comfortable for longer rides and improves its feel when pedalling.
Secure Lace-and-Strap Closure
Seven lace eyelets allow riders to adjust tension across the length of the foot, accommodating a wide range of foot shapes and volumes.
A hook-and-loop lockdown strap secures the instep and helps prevent unwanted heel movement during hard pedalling, jumping and rough descents. Tubular-knit laces add durability and are less likely to loosen during a ride.
Support for Downhill and Enduro Riding
A tri-moulded downhill shank provides the stiffness needed for efficient power transfer and support through compressions and rough terrain.
The sole retains enough flexibility for walking, giving the Chamber III a practical balance between pedal support and off-bike comfort.
More Cleat-Positioning Freedom
The cleat track provides up to 10mm more rearward adjustment than Giro’s standard mountain bike shoes.
A rearward cleat position can create a more stable stance over the pedals and reduce loading through the calf during long or steep descents. Riders who prefer a conventional cleat position can still adjust the cleat further forward.
Grip When You Are Off the Pedals
The Giro-designed Sensor rubber outsole balances traction and durability for regular trail and bike-park use.
Its tread provides dependable grip on rocks, loose soil and uneven ground. It also gives the shoe useful contact with the pedal platform when the cleat is not fully engaged.
Protection for Rough Terrain
Rock Print detailing reinforces high-wear areas, while rubber protection around the toe and heel helps guard against impacts, scuffs and trail debris.
A fully wrapping Ariaprene tongue adds comfortable coverage around the foot without the bulk of a traditional padded tongue.

Our Thoughts on the Giro Chamber III
The Chamber III is the shoe we’d recommend to riders who want the security of clipless pedals but still like the protection and planted feel of a gravity-style shoe. It feels particularly well matched to pedals with a supporting platform, where the stiff DH shank and broad outsole create a stable connection through rough sections.
The extra rearward cleat adjustment is one of its most useful features. Moving the cleat back can take some strain off the calves and provide a more centred position for descending, although the best setting will depend on your bike, pedals and riding style.
We also like the straightforward lace-and-strap closure. It takes slightly longer to put on than a BOA® shoe, but it spreads pressure comfortably and is easy to maintain. At 480g per shoe, this is not an XC race option. For enduro, downhill and technical trail riding, however, the additional support and protection are well worth the weight.
