One MTB Child Seat with Two Setups.
The Kids Ride Shotgun Pro EVO is a convertible front-mounted child seat designed to grow with your family. It begins as a supportive harnessed seat for younger passengers, then converts into the open Shotgun Pro seat when your child is ready.
Both configurations use the same adjustable mounting system, which connects to the bike’s headset and seatpost without contacting the frame. Shotgun Pro child handlebars are included.

Harnessed Seat: 9 Months to 2 Years
The harnessed configuration is suitable for children weighing 9–15kg and is recommended from approximately 9 months to 2 years.
It includes a five-point harness, sternum strap and child-resistant Fidlock buckle. Before riding, your child must be able to support the weight of their own head. Kids Ride Shotgun recommends consulting a paediatrician before carrying a child under 12 months old.
Open Pro Seat: 2 to 5 Years
When your child is ready, the system converts into the open Shotgun Pro seat. This configuration is suitable for children weighing 12–27kg and is recommended for approximately 2–5 years.
Before using the open seat, your child should be able to sit unaided, follow basic instructions and remain awake throughout the planned ride.
Fast, Frame-Friendly Mounting
After the initial installation, the quick-release system allows the seat to be fitted or removed in approximately 15 seconds. Two headset spacers are included, making it easier to use the seat on two compatible bikes.
The saddle position and angle can be adjusted to create more cockpit room and provide a comfortable position for the child.

Separate adaptors are available for selected internally routed headsets, Trek Knock Block and Scott Syncros systems. The Pro EVO is not recommended for road bikes, gravel bikes or most other bikes without front suspension.

Our Thoughts
The Pro EVO is the best fit in the Shotgun range for parents wanting to start riding together earlier without replacing the complete system as their child grows. The two modes are properly distinct, rather than simply removing a harness from the same saddle.
Correct bike fit and child readiness are essential. We recommend bringing your bike into our Christchurch store so we can check headset, stem, seatpost and foot clearance before installation.
