Why Use an E-Bike-Specific Maintenance Kit?
An e-bike does not require a completely different cleaning process from a conventional bike, but the drivetrain can operate under considerably higher loads. The battery, motor, charging port, display and electrical connections also require additional care while washing.
The two eBike Lubes are an important part of this kit. Use the Dry Lube in predominantly dry and dusty conditions or switch to the Wet Lube when riding through regular rain, mud and wet trails.
How to Use
Apply Drivetrain Cleaner to the chain, cassette, chainrings and derailleurs. Leave it for up to one minute, agitate stubborn contamination with the Claw Brush and rinse thoroughly.
Rinse loose dirt from the bike, then apply Nano Tech Bike Cleaner to the frame and wheels. Allow it to work for a few minutes without letting it dry. Agitate the dirt using the appropriate sponge or brush, then rinse carefully with fresh water.
Dry the bike before applying HCB-1 or MO-94 to appropriate areas. Follow the individual product directions and wipe away any excess using the Microfibre Cloth.
Once the drivetrain is completely dry, apply the appropriate Wet or Dry eBike Lube to the inside of each chain roller. Allow it to penetrate and wipe away the excess before riding.
Our Thoughts
This is the Muc-Off kit we would choose for an e-bike owner who wants a complete home cleaning setup rather than buying each product separately. There is enough here to clean the frame and drivetrain properly, protect appropriate components after washing and keep the chain lubricated through different seasons.
Getting both Wet and Dry eBike Lube is particularly useful in Christchurch. The Wet Lube suits muddy winter riding, while the Dry Lube helps keep the drivetrain cleaner once the trails and roads dry out.
The toolbox is useful too. Once you have accumulated several cleaners, brushes and lubricants, keeping everything together makes the regular cleaning routine considerably easier.

Take care around the motor, battery, charging port, display and electrical connections. Always follow the cleaning instructions supplied by your e-bike manufacturer.
Keep HCB-1, MO-94 and chain lubricant away from brake pads, disc rotors, rim-braking surfaces, tyre tread, grips and other areas where reduced friction could create a safety risk.
Do not direct high-pressure water at bearings, seals, suspension components or electrical connections. Do not apply cleaning products to hot surfaces or allow Nano Tech Bike Cleaner to dry on the bike.
