The Marathon Plus Tour is not a light or especially supple tyre, but that is missing the point. We’d fit it to a commuter or touring bike when avoiding punctures matters more than saving a few hundred grams.
The HS619 tread is a good choice if your regular ride mixes sealed roads with gravel paths or rail trails. It gives you more grip than a smooth Marathon Plus without becoming overly aggressive on the road.
They can be firm to install, and the thick SmartGuard layer makes judging pressure by hand unreliable. Use a pressure gauge and follow the range printed on the sidewall. Run it too soft and it will feel slow and heavy; set it correctly and it rolls better than its tough construction might suggest.
