The Selle Italia SLR Advan is a compact road saddle for riders who want a light, supportive platform that still works well for everyday training and longer days on the bike. It combines Selle Italia’s proven SLR shape with a large Superflow cutout, carefully placed padding and tubular steel rails.

At approximately 188–190 g depending on width, it is impressively light for a steel-railed saddle while remaining practical enough for regular riding.

A neutral shape for different riding positions

The SLR Advan has Selle Italia’s neutral anatomical profile. This provides support for riders who rotate their pelvis forward in a lower road position, as well as riders who remain more upright and settled on the saddle.

Its compact 242 mm length gives you room to adjust your position without the saddle feeling bulky. You can slide forward when riding hard or settle further back during steady seated efforts.

Padding where it is needed

Rather than covering the entire saddle in thick padding, Selle Italia has used its idmatch research to identify the main contact points and add cushioning only where it serves a purpose.

The result is a firm and supportive road saddle rather than a soft recreational saddle. The targeted padding helps take the edge off rough surfaces without leaving you sinking into the saddle or moving around unnecessarily.

Superflow pressure relief

The large Superflow cutout reduces contact through the centre of the saddle. This can help relieve pressure on sensitive soft tissue, particularly when spending time on the drops or riding in a lower position.

A cutout cannot compensate for the wrong saddle width or a poor setup. Saddle height, tilt and fore-aft position all affect comfort, so it is worth checking these before deciding whether a saddle suits you.

Tubular steel rails and a carbon-powered shell

The tubular steel rails provide a useful balance of strength, low weight and vibration absorption. Their standard 7 mm round profile fits most conventional seatpost clamps, although it is always worth checking your clamp before ordering.

The shell combines carbon composite with high-grade nylon polymer to reduce weight while retaining the support expected from an SLR saddle.

Choosing the correct width

The SLR Advan is available in two widths: S3 at 130 mm and L3 at 145 mm. Choose the width that properly supports your sit bones and suits your riding position rather than simply selecting the narrowest option.
