A wide comfort saddle with Royalgel cushioning and extra shock absorption for upright riding.
The Selle Royal Vaia Relaxed is designed for riders who sit in a fully upright position and carry more of their weight through the saddle. It combines a broad, supportive shape with Royalgel cushioning, a large ergonomic centre cut-out and additional shock absorption at the rear.
Royalgel helps distribute pressure across the saddle, while the centre cut-out provides relief through the perineal area and allows the saddle to support your sit bones more effectively.
The Relaxed model also gets Selle Royal's Thermoplastic Damper. Positioned underneath the rear of the saddle, it works in a similar way to an elastomer to absorb bumps and impacts before they reach the rider. This is particularly useful on upright recreational and comfort bikes where you're carrying more weight through the saddle.
Royal Vacuum construction seals the saddle against wet weather, while the Integrated Clip System at the rear provides an attachment point for compatible Selle Royal saddle bags and accessories.

Extra Comfort for Upright Riding
The Thermoplastic Damper is one of the important differences with the Relaxed version of the Vaia. When you're sitting upright, more of your weight is supported by the saddle, so bumps through the rear wheel can be more noticeable.
The damper adds some movement underneath the rear of the saddle to help take the edge off those impacts without relying on softer padding alone.
Why Choose the Selle Royal Vaia Relaxed?
The Vaia Relaxed makes sense if you ride in a genuinely upright position and want plenty of support along with good pressure relief.
Royalgel provides the cushioning, while the large centre cut-out is particularly useful for riders who find pressure through the middle of a conventional saddle uncomfortable. The additional damper then adds another level of comfort over rougher roads and cycleways.
Our Thoughts
The important word here is Relaxed. This saddle is designed around an upright riding position, not simply for someone who wants the biggest or softest saddle available.
If your bike has you sitting upright with most of your weight going through the saddle, the combination of a supportive platform, Royalgel, centre cut-out and rear damper makes sense.
If you're leaning further forward towards the handlebars, we'd look at the Vaia Moderate instead. Getting the saddle shape matched to your riding position is more important than simply choosing the version with the most cushioning.
