Shimano Hydraulic Mineral Oil is the genuine red brake fluid specified for a wide range of Shimano mountain bike, road, gravel, trekking and urban hydraulic disc brake systems.
The 500 mL bottle is a practical workshop size for complete brake bleeds, fluid replacement and servicing multiple bikes. It provides enough fluid to flush contaminated or heavily discoloured oil rather than simply topping up the system.
Check Your Brake Model Before Use
This is Shimano’s traditional red Hydraulic Mineral Oil. It is compatible with many established Shimano brake systems, including selected XTR, DEORE XT, SLX, DEORE, Saint, Zee, Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105, Tiagra and GRX models.
It is not suitable for Shimano brakes that specify the newer Shimano Low Viscosity Oil. These include current XTR M9200-series brakes and BR-MT805 systems. Check the model number printed on your brake lever and caliper against Shimano’s technical information before beginning the service.
Do not mix Shimano Hydraulic Mineral Oil with Shimano Low Viscosity Oil. If you are uncertain which fluid your brakes require, contact our workshop before ordering.
Mineral Oil Only
Never use DOT brake fluid in a Shimano brake designed for mineral oil. DOT fluid can damage seals and make the brake unsafe. Keep syringes, hoses, funnels and other bleeding equipment separate from tools previously used with DOT fluid or a different oil type.
