Smoother Is Faster
The Specialized Roubaix SL8 Pro is a fast endurance road bike built for long days, rough roads and riders who want performance without putting up with an unforgiving race-bike position.
Its FACT 10r carbon frame combines efficient power transfer with endurance geometry, while Future Shock 3.3 provides 20 mm of movement beneath the handlebar to reduce impacts through your hands and upper body.
This Pro build adds the latest SRAM Force AXS E1 wireless drivetrain with an integrated power meter, Roval Rapide CL III carbon wheels and 32 mm Mondo tyres. It is quick enough for fast bunch rides and events but comfortable and capable enough for long-distance riding on New Zealand’s coarse chip seal.
Future Shock 3.3
Future Shock 3.3 provides 20 mm of smooth movement between the stem and head tube. Rather than suspending the front wheel, it allows the cockpit to move beneath the rider while the carbon fork continues to steer precisely.
This helps reduce sharp impacts through your hands, arms and shoulders while keeping the front wheel connected to the road. The result is better comfort and control without the soft pedalling feel associated with conventional suspension.
Future Shock 3.3 is adjustable, allowing you to change the amount of movement while riding to suit the road surface and your preference.
AfterShock Rear Compliance
At the rear, Specialized’s dropped seat clamp exposes more of the S-Works Pavé seatpost so it can flex in a controlled way. Specialized calls this AfterShock technology.
The system reduces vibration and impacts through the saddle while retaining a rigid rear triangle for efficient power transfer. It provides useful comfort on coarse seal and broken roads without making the bike feel vague when climbing or accelerating.
FACT 10r Carbon Performance
The FACT 10r carbon frame uses Rider-First Engineered construction to maintain consistent handling and ride quality across the size range.
Aerodynamic shaping around the fork, down tube and dropped seatstays helps reduce drag, while the threaded bottom bracket simplifies servicing. The frame is light and responsive but designed around the stability and comfort needed for long-distance riding.
SRAM Force AXS E1 with Power Meter
The latest SRAM Force AXS E1 drivetrain provides wireless 2 x 12-speed electronic shifting with a light and consistent action at the controls.
A 46/33T crankset and 10–36T cassette provide a useful range for steep climbs, long days and faster riding on flatter roads. The gearing is lower than a traditional race setup without leaving large gaps between the gears you use most often.
An integrated SRAM Force power meter is included, allowing you to monitor effort during training, events and longer endurance rides.
SRAM Force AXS E1 Braking
SRAM Force AXS E1 hydraulic disc brakes use 160 mm rotors front and rear. They provide smooth, predictable braking with relatively little hand effort, which is particularly useful during long descents or in wet conditions.
The updated controls have comfortable ergonomics and make it easy to brake securely from the hoods.
Roval Rapide CL III Carbon Wheels
Roval Rapide CL III carbon wheels give the Roubaix a worthwhile combination of aerodynamic performance, stiffness and everyday serviceability.
The front rim uses a 51 mm depth, while the rear measures 48.5 mm. Both use a 21 mm internal width and are tubeless ready. DT Swiss 350-based hubs provide dependable internals that are straightforward for a well-equipped workshop to maintain.
32 mm Mondo Endurance Tyres
Specialized Mondo TLR 700 x 32C tyres provide more cushioning and grip than a narrow race tyre while retaining a quick road feel. Their GRIPTON T2/T5 compound is designed to balance rolling speed, cornering grip and durability.
The Roubaix SL8 offers clearance for tyres up to 40 mm, giving riders the option of adding more comfort and traction for rough roads or light gravel. Always confirm tyre and rim clearance when changing from the standard setup.
Ready for Big Days
The Roubaix includes three bottle mounting positions, top-tube mounts and mudguard compatibility. These additions make it easier to set the bike up for long-distance events, supported touring, winter training or all-day rides where extra carrying capacity matters.

Our Thoughts
The Roubaix SL8 Pro is not a slow comfort bike. It accelerates cleanly, handles precisely and has enough aerodynamic equipment to feel properly quick on open roads.
The difference is that it does not demand the same low position or tolerance for road vibration as a conventional race bike. Future Shock 3.3 and the Pavé seatpost take the edge off rough surfaces, helping the rider stay relaxed and maintain speed when the road deteriorates.
The new Force AXS E1 groupset is well matched to the bike. Its 46/33T crankset and 10–36T cassette provide sensible gearing for long climbs, while the included power meter makes it ready for structured training from the outset.
Roval Rapide CL III wheels are also a meaningful inclusion rather than an obvious first upgrade. For riders wanting one premium road bike for fast rides, long events and rough New Zealand roads, the Roubaix SL8 Pro is a very complete package.
