Stan’s Universal+ Tubeless Valves combine a conventional removable Presta core with an alloy, insert-compatible valve body. Five airflow openings help air and sealant move around tyre inserts, while the shaped rubber base is designed to seal against a wide range of modern tubeless rims.
They are supplied as a pair and available in four lengths to suit everything from shallow mountain bike rims to deeper road and gravel wheels.
Choosing the Correct Valve Length
Stan’s size names refer to the maximum recommended rim depth, while the millimetre measurement is the approximate overall valve length. Check both measurements when selecting your valves:
- Regular 20 – 37mm valve: for rims up to 20mm deep
- Medium 25 – 43mm valve: for rims up to 25mm deep
- Tall 35 – 53mm valve: for rims up to 35mm deep
- Deep 45 – 63mm valve: for rims up to 45mm deep
Measure the total depth of your rim rather than its internal width. The valve needs to extend far enough beyond the rim to provide sufficient exposed thread for the locking nut, pump head and inflation.
If your rim is close to the maximum depth for a particular size, choosing the next length up can make pump attachment easier.
Designed for Tyre Inserts
Four side openings and one opening at the bottom of the valve help maintain airflow when a tyre insert sits against the valve base. This allows air and compatible sealant to move through the valve without relying entirely on the opening at its tip.
The elliptical rubber stopper follows modern rim profiles to help create a reliable tubeless seal across a wide range of alloy and carbon rims.
Upgradeable to Exo-Core
The supplied Presta core can be removed and replaced with a Stan’s Exo-Core Housing Kit, sold separately. This allows you to upgrade to Stan’s higher-flow Exo-Core system without replacing the complete valve body.
The secure press-on TAP Caps and locking nuts can also be customised using separately available Stan’s Tubeless Valve Colour Kits.
Important Sealant Note
Stan’s Original Tubeless Sealant can be installed through the valve after removing the Presta core. Stan’s Race Day Sealant must be poured directly into the tyre because its larger sealing particles can block valve stems, removable cores and sealant injectors.

The Universal+ is a good choice if you want the familiarity of a removable Presta core with improved airflow around a tyre insert. Its replaceable and upgradeable parts also make it a more versatile option than a basic one-piece tubeless valve.
The important part is understanding Stan’s sizing. Regular 20 does not mean the valve is 20mm long. It means the 37mm valve is designed for rims up to 20mm deep. Measure the rim before ordering and allow enough exposed valve length for your pump head.
