Proven Tubeless Protection for Road, Gravel and Mountain Bikes.
Stan’s Original Tubeless Sealant is the dependable all-round formula for tubeless road, gravel and mountain-bike tyres. Its low-viscosity consistency spreads around the tyre easily, helping seal punctures, porous casings and small leaks around the bead before they interrupt your ride.
The 1000ml bottle is a practical workshop size for riders maintaining several bikes or regularly topping up their sealant. Depending on tyre size and the amount required, one bottle can seal up to 16 tyres.
Reliable Puncture Sealing
Stan’s Original contains sealing particles that gather around a puncture as air escapes. Under suitable conditions, it can seal punctures up to approximately 6.5mm.
Results will depend on the tyre, puncture shape, remaining pressure and riding conditions. Larger cuts may require a Stan’s DART or another suitable tubeless plug. We still recommend carrying a plug tool, inflation device and spare tube on longer rides.
How Much Sealant Do You Need?
- 700 × 28mm road tyre: approximately 50ml per tyre
- 700 × 32mm road tyre: approximately 55ml per tyre
- 700 × 40mm gravel tyre: approximately 60ml per tyre
- 650b × 47mm gravel tyre: approximately 80ml per tyre
- 27.5 × 2.3–2.5in MTB tyre: approximately 100–110ml per tyre
- 29 × 2.3–2.5in MTB tyre: approximately 105–125ml per tyre
These are starting quantities. Wider tyres, larger-volume casings and more porous tyre constructions may need additional sealant.
Easy Application and Top-Ups
The sealant can be poured directly into the tyre during installation or injected through a compatible tubeless valve with a removable core. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use so the sealing particles are evenly distributed.
After adding the sealant, inflate the tyre and rotate the wheel through several positions to coat the complete inner surface. Check around the bead, valve and spoke holes for any escaping air or sealant before riding.
Regular Maintenance
Stan’s Original typically remains liquid inside a tyre for 2–7 months. Temperature, tyre construction, storage and riding conditions will affect how quickly it dries, so check the sealant level regularly and top it up when required.
The formula can be used in temperatures down to approximately -29°C. Store the bottle sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Our Thoughts
Stan’s Original remains a solid choice if you want one sealant for a mix of road, gravel and mountain bikes. The 1000ml bottle makes the most sense for a home workshop, a household with several bikes or anyone who regularly installs and maintains tubeless tyres.
Sealant does dry out over time, especially in warm conditions, so it is worth checking rather than waiting for the next puncture to find out the tyre is dry.
