Proven Tubeless Protection in a Practical 250ml Bottle.

Stan’s Original Tubeless Sealant is the formula that helped make tubeless bicycle tyres practical. Developed for reliable puncture protection, it coats the inside of the tyre and reacts when air escapes, sealing many small holes before they interrupt your ride.

The 250ml bottle is a useful size for setting up a pair of mountain bike tyres, several road tyres or keeping enough sealant on hand for regular top-ups. It is suitable for tubeless road, gravel and mountain bike tyres.

Reliable Puncture Sealing

Stan’s Original contains sealing particles that remain suspended in the liquid and gather around a puncture as air escapes. The formula is designed to seal holes up to approximately 6.5mm under suitable conditions.

Its low viscosity allows it to move freely around the tyre, helping seal small punctures, porous casings and slow leaks around the bead.

Sealant cannot repair every type of damage. Larger cuts may require a Stan’s DART or another suitable tubeless plug. We still recommend carrying a plug tool, inflation device and spare tube on longer rides.

How Far Will 250ml Go?

The amount required depends on the tyre’s width and overall air volume. Stan’s current starting recommendations include:

  • 700 × 28c: Approximately 50ml per tyre
  • 700 × 32c: Approximately 55ml per tyre
  • 700 × 40c: Approximately 60ml per tyre
  • 29 × 2.3 inches: Approximately 105ml per tyre
  • 29 × 2.4 inches: Approximately 110ml per tyre
  • 29 × 2.5 inches: Approximately 125ml per tyre

A 250ml bottle can therefore set up approximately four common road tyres or two common mountain bike tyres. Wider tyres, porous casings and some new installations may require additional sealant.

Easy Installation and Top-Ups

Shake the bottle thoroughly before use so the sealing particles are distributed evenly. The sealant can then be poured directly into the tyre or injected through a compatible tubeless valve with a removable core.

After adding the sealant, inflate the tyre and rotate the wheel through several positions to coat the complete inner surface. Check around the bead and valve for escaping air before riding.

Regular Maintenance

Stan’s Original normally remains liquid inside the tyre for approximately two to seven months. Hot, dry conditions and porous tyre casings may require more frequent checks.

Check the sealant level regularly and top it up before it dries completely. Store the bottle sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Key Features

Our Thoughts

The 250ml bottle is a sensible option for a home workshop. It holds enough sealant for a pair of most mountain bike tyres without committing to a large bottle, while road and gravel riders will have enough for several installations or top-ups.

For dedicated high-pressure road and gravel setups between 35 and 100psi, Stan’s Rolled Gold is the more specialised option. For general road, gravel and mountain bike use, Original remains the dependable all-rounder.
