TIME ATAC XC 2 Clipless Pedals
Easy Engagement. Lightweight Performance. Outstanding Value.
The TIME ATAC XC 2 Clipless Pedals provide a simple and affordable introduction to clip-in riding. Designed for cross-country mountain biking, cyclocross and gravel, they combine TIME’s easy-to-use ATAC engagement system with a lightweight glass-filled composite body.
ATAC Easy cleats are included and provide a low 10-degree release angle, making clipping out straightforward and predictable. The open mechanism also clears mud and debris as you engage, helping the pedals perform reliably throughout the year.
An Easier Introduction to Clipless Pedals
The XC 2 is supplied with TIME ATAC Easy cleats, which release at a lower 10-degree angle.
This makes unclipping easier than it is with TIME’s standard ATAC cleats, helping riders build confidence when moving to clipless pedals for the first time. The wide entry angle also makes locating and engaging the pedal relatively straightforward.
Reliable ATAC Engagement
TIME’s ATAC mechanism provides positive engagement without requiring precise cleat positioning.
This is helpful when starting quickly, remounting during a cyclocross race or clipping back in on uneven terrain. Once engaged, the system provides a secure and consistent connection with the bike.
Natural Foot Movement
The ATAC system provides 5mm of lateral freedom, allowing the foot to find a comfortable position while pedalling.
This controlled movement can feel more natural than a completely fixed cleat setup and gives riders some flexibility when fine-tuning their cleat position.
Built to Handle Mud
The open ATAC mechanism pushes mud and debris away whenever the cleat engages.
This self-cleaning design makes the XC 2 particularly useful for mountain biking, gravel riding and cyclocross, where wet conditions can quickly clog a more enclosed pedal mechanism.
Lightweight Composite Construction
The glass-filled composite body keeps the pedal weight down while providing the durability needed for regular off-road use.
At approximately 151g per pedal, the XC 2 offers a combined pair weight of just 302g, making it a competitive option for recreational riding, training and entry-level racing.

Our Thoughts on the TIME ATAC XC 2
The XC 2 is one of the TIME pedals we’d point riders towards when they want to try clipless riding without spending a lot or making the transition unnecessarily difficult. The supplied ATAC Easy cleats have a noticeably easier release than the standard cleats, which helps take some of the worry out of getting a foot down quickly.
The composite body keeps the weight impressively low, while the open ATAC mechanism deals well with the mud and grit that comes with gravel and mountain biking. There’s no spring-tension adjustment, but the fixed setup is straightforward and works well for the recreational and newer riders this pedal is designed for.
If you later want a firmer release, you can move to standard ATAC cleats with a 13- or 17-degree release angle. For aggressive trail riding or rough descents, we’d recommend stepping up to an MX or Speciale pedal with a larger supporting platform. For XC, gravel and everyday riding, the XC 2 is a dependable and very good-value starting point.
