The TIME Speciale 8 pedals combine the secure connection of an clip-in pedal with a supportive aluminium platform for added stability on rough terrain. Inspired by the premium Speciale 12, the slightly more compact Speciale 8 delivers many of the same practical benefits in a durable and more accessible package.

TIME’s proven ATAC retention system provides easy engagement, predictable release and excellent mud clearance. Micro-adjustable spring tension and adjustable grip pins allow the pedal setup to be tuned to suit the rider, their shoes and the terrain.

Support When the Trail Gets Rough

The aluminium platform provides useful support around the cleat, helping create a more stable connection between the shoe and pedal.

This additional contact is valuable through rough descents, compressions and technical sections. It also gives you something substantial to stand on if you don’t clip in cleanly after putting a foot down.

Easy ATAC Engagement

TIME’s ATAC retention system is designed for easy entry and consistent release.

The open mechanism allows mud and debris to clear as the shoe engages, helping the pedals work reliably in wet and messy trail conditions.

Adjustable Release Tension

Micro-adjustable spring tension allows the engagement and release feel to be fine-tuned.

Newer clip-in riders can choose a lighter setting for easier release, while experienced riders can increase the tension for a firmer and more secure connection.

Four adjustable pins provide additional shoe contact and grip around the pedal platform.

The pin height can be adjusted to suit different shoe soles and rider preferences, helping balance platform support with easy engagement and release.

Predictable Release Options

The supplied ATAC cleats can be configured for either a 13° or 17° release angle, depending on their orientation.

TIME ATAC Easy cleats are also compatible and provide a lower 10° release angle for riders who prefer to disengage with less heel movement. ATAC Easy cleats are available separately.

The Speciale 8 uses a robust aluminium body with steel bearings and a standard 9/16-inch pedal thread.

Our Thoughts on the TIME Speciale 8

The Speciale 8 is a pedal we’d recommend to trail and enduro riders who want a supportive clip-in setup without moving to an especially large or heavy platform. There is enough body around the mechanism to provide useful support, but the pedal still clears mud well and doesn’t feel bulky.

TIME’s ATAC system is easy to live with, particularly in wet conditions. Engagement is positive, release is predictable and the adjustable tension makes it straightforward to tune the pedals to the rider. The adjustable pins are also useful, although setting them too high can make engagement and release feel tighter depending on the shoe.

For most riders, the Speciale 8 offers a very good balance of platform support, durability and value. The larger Speciale 12 may suit riders wanting the maximum possible platform, but the Speciale 8 is likely the more practical choice for general trail and enduro use.
