BMX Character. Big Wheels. Built for Fun.
The WeThePeople Avenger is a 27.5-inch hybrid clunker that combines the direct feel and simplicity of a BMX bike with larger wheels, wide tyres and hydraulic disc brakes. Its full chromoly frame, rigid fork and tall BMX-style handlebar make it a distinctive bike for urban riding, cruising and weekend singletrack.
This is not a conventional mountain bike. It has no suspension or wide-range gearing, but that simplicity is a big part of its appeal. The Avenger is made for riders who want a tough, uncomplicated bike with genuine WeThePeople BMX character.
Full Chromoly Construction
The frame, fork and handlebar are made from 4130 chromoly steel, giving the Avenger the solid, familiar feel riders expect from a BMX-inspired bike, with the strength required for regular urban and recreational use.
Its rigid construction keeps the steering direct and maintenance simple. The bike feels solid under power and responsive beneath the rider, particularly for anyone coming from a BMX background.
BMX-Inspired Cockpit and Drivetrain
WeThePeople has equipped the Avenger with a tall chromoly handlebar, CNC-machined top-load stem and flangeless Salt clamp-on grips. The riding position is upright, responsive and unmistakably BMX influenced.
The single-speed drivetrain uses 175mm three-piece chromoly cranks, a 42-tooth WeThePeople Patrol sprocket and an 18-tooth rear cog. It is simple, durable and well suited to cruising, urban riding and rolling trails. Riders regularly tackling long or steep climbs may be better served by a geared bike.
27.5-Inch Wheels
The 27.5-inch wheels roll over rough ground more easily than traditional BMX wheels while retaining the lively handling that gives the Avenger its character.
Double-wall WeThePeople rims and fully sealed hubs create a sturdy wheelset for mixed-surface riding. WTB Ranger 27.5 x 2.25-inch tyres provide useful cushioning and grip on pavement, gravel and dry trails.
Hydraulic Disc Braking
Hydraulic disc brakes provide dependable stopping power with less hand effort than mechanical brakes. The 160mm front and rear rotors are well suited to the Avenger’s mix of urban and recreational trail riding.
Brake components may be supplied as Shimano MT200 or Clarks Clout depending on production availability.
Simple and Easy to Maintain
With one gear, a rigid fork and no suspension pivots, the Avenger has fewer components requiring regular adjustment or servicing. Sealed bearings in the hubs and bottom bracket also make it a practical bike for frequent use.
It still needs normal chain, brake and bearing maintenance, but there is considerably less to look after than on a conventional geared mountain bike.

Why Riders Love the WeThePeople Avenger
The Avenger offers something genuinely different from a standard mountain bike or urban commuter. It has the familiar simplicity and direct handling of a BMX bike, but its larger wheels, hydraulic brakes and wide tyres make it more comfortable over longer distances and rougher surfaces than a traditional BMX.
Who Is This Bike For?
Perfect For
✔ BMX riders wanting a larger-wheeled bike
✔ Urban riding and everyday transport
✔ Cruising and social rides
✔ Gravel tracks and flowing singletrack
✔ Riders looking for a BMX-inspired clunker
✔ Riders who prefer a simple single-speed drivetrain
✔ Anyone wanting something different from a conventional mountain bike
The rigid fork and single-speed drivetrain make the Avenger less suitable for rough technical mountain-bike trails, sustained steep climbs or riders needing a broad gear range.
Our Thoughts on the WeThePeople Avenger
The Avenger makes the most sense when viewed as a big-wheel BMX-inspired clunker rather than a traditional mountain bike. It is simple, strong and entertaining, with enough modern equipment to make it useful beyond the skatepark or neighbourhood.
The 27.5-inch wheels provide more comfort and rollover than a 20-inch BMX, while the chromoly construction retains that familiar solid feel. Hydraulic brakes are a worthwhile inclusion and the wide tyres broaden the range of surfaces it can handle.
The single-speed gearing is part of the appeal, but it is also the main limitation. If your riding involves long climbs or highly varied terrain, a geared hardtail will be more practical. If you want a distinctive bike for cruising, commuting and uncomplicated weekend rides, the Avenger fits the brief.
