Carbon Road Performance with Electronic Shifting
The X-LAB AD7 is a carbon road bike for riders who enjoy fast bunch rides, regular training and road events. It brings together Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting, carbon wheels and a power meter in a complete build that is ready for plenty of kilometres.
With race-oriented geometry and an integrated carbon cockpit, the AD7 has a purposeful position on the road. The 30 mm tyres add useful comfort for longer rides and the coarse chip seal found on many New Zealand roads.
Carbon Frame and Fork
The AD7 uses an X-LAB carbon frame and fork, paired with an aero-profile carbon seatpost. The frame is compatible with a Universal Derailleur Hanger, while the T47 bottom bracket provides a threaded interface for servicing.
At a claimed 8.44 kg in size M, the AD7 offers a performance-focused build for climbing, training and faster road riding.
Shimano 105 Di2 Electronic Shifting
Shimano 105 Di2 provides electronic shifting through a 2 × 12-speed drivetrain. The shift controls communicate wirelessly with the system, while the derailleurs draw power from the central Di2 battery.
A 52/36T crankset and 11–34T cassette give the AD7 gearing for faster riding while retaining a useful lower gear for longer climbs. Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes provide controlled stopping in changing conditions, with a 160 mm front rotor and 140 mm rear rotor.
Power Meter and Apple Find My
The Branta aluminium crankset includes a power meter, allowing you to measure effort, follow structured workouts and pace longer events without buying a separate unit.
Apple Find My compatibility is also integrated into the crankset. It can help locate the bike through a compatible Apple device and account, but it is not a replacement for a quality physical lock.
Branta C45 SL Carbon Wheels
The Branta C45 SL wheelset pairs carbon rims with PSR Wing20 aero spokes. Its 45 mm rim profile is well suited to faster road riding and gives the AD7 an aerodynamic wheel shape without going as deep as a dedicated flat-course race wheel.
Branta R630F 700 × 30C tyres provide a useful balance of speed and comfort. The additional tyre volume compared with a narrower race tyre is welcome on rougher seal and longer training rides.
Integrated Carbon Cockpit
The Branta integrated carbon handlebar and stem keeps the front of the bike tidy. Stem length and handlebar width vary with frame size, so check the measurements below before ordering.
Changing the reach or bar width on a one-piece cockpit may require replacing the whole unit. If you already have a road position that works well, bring us your measurements and we can help compare them with the AD7.

Who Is It For?
- Fast bunch rides and road events
- Regular training and fitness riding
- Riders stepping up to electronic shifting
- Training and racing with power
- Riders wanting carbon wheels as part of the original build
- Road riders who prefer a performance-focused position
The AD7 has race-oriented geometry. Riders looking for a more upright position or a bike for regular unsealed riding may be better suited to an endurance or all-road model.
Our Thoughts
The AD7 has several upgrades riders often plan for later: Shimano 105 Di2, carbon wheels and a power meter are already included. That makes it an appealing option if you want to get straight into training or bunch riding without changing major components.
The 52/36T and 11–34T gearing gives it a useful range for faster rides and climbs. The integrated cockpit is the main fitting detail to check before ordering, particularly if you are between sizes or know you need a specific stem length or bar width.
