SuperNatural Power, Control and Range
The 2027 Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Expert is a full-power electric trail bike built for riders who want to climb further, tackle properly technical terrain and fit more descending into every ride.
Its Specialized 3.1 motor delivers up to 810 watts and 105Nm of torque, backed by an integrated 840Wh battery. The FACT 11m carbon frame combines 150mm of GENIE-controlled rear travel with adjustable geometry, mixed wheels and a 160mm RockShox ZEB Select+ fork.
A SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission, Roval Traverse alloy wheels and aggressive Specialized Butcher GRID GRAVITY Radial tyres complete a dependable build for everything from regular Port Hills laps to bigger days at Craigieburn, Hanmer and beyond.
Specialized 3.1 Full-Power System
The Specialized 3.1 motor produces up to 810 watts and 105Nm, but the way that power reaches the trail is just as important as the headline figures. Assistance arrives smoothly and predictably, making it easier to maintain traction on loose climbs and control the bike through tight technical sections.
The integrated 840Wh battery provides plenty of capacity for proper trail rides. For longer backcountry missions, the Expert is compatible with the optional Specialized Levo 4 Full Power Range Extender.
The 280Wh Range Extender increases total available capacity to 1,120Wh and provides up to five hours of claimed riding time under Specialized’s stated test conditions. Actual riding time depends on rider weight, assistance level, elevation, trail conditions, temperature and how hard the motor is being worked.
FACT 11m Carbon Frame
The FACT 11m carbon frame is stiff where it needs to be without making the bike feel harsh or difficult to manage. Adjustable geometry lets the rider tune the handling around local trails, riding style and personal preference.
Integrated SWAT storage inside the downtube provides space for tools and trailside essentials. It is a genuinely useful feature on an e-MTB, where carrying the basics on the bike is often more comfortable than loading up a riding pack.
GENIE Rear Suspension
The Turbo Levo 4 Expert uses 150mm of rear travel controlled by a RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ shock with Specialized’s GENIE air-spring technology.
GENIE is designed to provide sensitivity and traction early in the travel, useful support through the middle and greater resistance to harsh bottom-outs near the end. On the trail, that gives the Levo a planted feel through rough ground without making it wallow when pumping terrain or pushing hard through a corner.
RockShox ZEB Select+ Fork
The 160mm RockShox ZEB Select+ provides the stiffness and control needed for a full-power trail bike. Its stout 38mm chassis holds its line under braking and through rough terrain, particularly when the bike is carrying speed.
Combined with the GENIE-equipped rear suspension, it gives the Expert enough travel for steep and technical trails while retaining the support needed for everyday trail riding.
GX Eagle AXS Transmission
SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission provides electronic shifting with a direct derailleur-to-frame mounting system. It is designed to shift cleanly under load, which is particularly useful when climbing with full motor assistance.
The derailleur draws power from the bike’s main e-bike battery through its integrated power connection. There is no separate removable SRAM AXS derailleur battery to charge.
Roval Traverse Wheels and Radial Tyres
Roval Traverse alloy wheels are a sensible match for the Expert. They provide a strong, serviceable wheelset without the replacement cost of carbon, making them well suited to regular riding on rough New Zealand trails.
The mixed-wheel setup uses a 29-inch front wheel for rollover and stability, with a 27.5-inch rear wheel for quicker direction changes and extra clearance on steep terrain.
Specialized Butcher GRID GRAVITY Radial 2.4-inch tyres provide a compliant contact patch and aggressive grip. Their sturdy GRID GRAVITY casings are designed for hard trail and enduro use, where puncture protection and cornering support matter more than saving a small amount of rotating weight.

Who Is It For?
The Turbo Levo 4 Expert suits riders who want a premium carbon e-MTB without stepping into the price of a Pro or S-Works build.
- Technical trail and enduro-style riding
- Long rides with plenty of climbing
- Riders who value strong suspension and dependable wheels
- Rough, steep and fast New Zealand trails
- Riders wanting electronic shifting without a separate derailleur battery
- Anyone wanting adjustable geometry and useful on-bike storage
With 160/150mm of travel and GRID GRAVITY tyres, this is a capable and hard-charging build. Riders looking for a lighter, quicker-feeling bike for smoother trails may find the shorter-travel Turbo Levo R better suited to their riding.
Our Thoughts
The Expert sits in a particularly useful place in the Levo 4 range. You get the carbon frame, full 810-watt motor, 840Wh battery, GENIE suspension and electronic GX Transmission without paying for carbon wheels or top-level suspension.
The RockShox Select+ suspension provides enough adjustment for an experienced rider to get a proper setup, while the Roval alloy wheels make sense on a bike intended to see regular use on rough terrain. They are strong, practical and easier on the wallet if the trail eventually wins.
The Butcher GRID GRAVITY Radial tyres add some weight, but they also give the bike the grip and casing support needed to use its power and suspension properly. Overall, this is a well-balanced Levo for riders who intend to ride hard rather than simply chase the lightest build.
