The Rally Car of E-MTBs
The Levo R has a different purpose from the longer-travel Levo 4 and Levo 4 EVO. Its lower, more forward riding position and shorter-travel suspension give it a more direct feel when pumping through rollers, accelerating out of corners and changing lines.
It is made for riders who enjoy fast singletrack, ridgeline trails, technical climbing and flowing downcountry terrain. It still has enough suspension for proper trail riding, but it feels more eager and precise than a heavier enduro-focused e-MTB.
Specialized 3.1 Full-Power System
The Specialized 3.1 motor delivers up to 810W of peak power and 105Nm of torque. Power comes in progressively, helping the rear tyre maintain traction on steep, loose and technical climbs.
Support levels and motor response can be adjusted through the Specialized app. The MasterMind TCU uses a 2.2-inch high-resolution display for battery information, assistance settings and ride data, and the system also supports Apple Find My.
840Wh Battery and Extendable Range
The integrated Turbo X2 840Wh battery provides the capacity needed for long trail rides and elevation-heavy days. Specialized claims up to five hours of riding when the bike is used with the optional 280Wh Range Extender under its specified test conditions.

FACT 11m Carbon Rally Chassis
The FACT 11m carbon frame provides 130mm of rear-wheel travel and uses geometry developed specifically for the Levo R. Its lower centre of gravity and forward-biased riding position help the bike feel quick and balanced through corners.
Geometry can be adjusted to suit the terrain and the rider’s handling preference. Internal SWAT storage provides space for a tube, tools and other trail essentials inside the downtube.
FOX 36 SL Performance Fork
The 140mm FOX 36 SL Performance fork gives the Levo R enough support for aggressive trail riding while saving weight compared with a full-size enduro fork. Its GRIP damper provides useful control without creating an overly complicated setup.
The 36mm chassis is stiff enough for accurate steering and hard braking while helping the front of the bike retain the lighter feel that defines the Levo R platform.
FOX FLOAT GENIE Rear Suspension
The FOX FLOAT Performance shock uses Specialized GENIE technology to control 130mm of rear-wheel travel. GENIE combines the grip and comfort associated with a coil-like initial stroke with the progression and bottom-out resistance of an air spring.
The result is useful traction over rough ground without making the bike feel soft or vague when pumping through rollers, accelerating or pushing into corners.
SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS Transmission
SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS Transmission provides electronic 12-speed shifting through SRAM’s full-mount derailleur design. It is built to shift consistently under pedalling load, which is particularly useful when climbing technical terrain with motor assistance.
The AXS Pod controller communicates wirelessly, while the derailleur draws its operating power from the Levo’s main battery through an integrated connection. There is no separate derailleur battery to remove or charge.
A 10–52T GX Transmission cassette provides a broad climbing range, while 160mm cranks improve pedal clearance through rough terrain.
SRAM Motive Brakes
SRAM Motive Bronze four-piston brakes are paired with 200mm rotors front and rear. They provide suitable braking power for the Levo R’s lighter, shorter-travel platform without adding the weight of the larger Maven system used on the enduro-focused Levo EVO.
Fast-Rolling Purgatory Tyres
Specialized Purgatory tyres provide a useful balance of grip, rolling speed and trail durability. The front uses a soft T9 compound for cornering confidence, while the rear uses a faster-rolling T7 compound.
Both tyres are 2.4 inches wide and use reinforced GRID casings. This gives the Levo R useful support on rough trails while retaining the quicker feel that suits its rally-bike character.
Wheel Configuration
Sizes S2 through S6 use 29-inch wheels front and rear for efficient rollover, speed and predictable handling.
Size S1 uses a mixed-wheel setup with a 29-inch front wheel and 27.5-inch rear wheel. This gives the smallest frame better rider clearance and more suitable handling without reducing front-wheel rollover.
Smart Control and Security
The MasterMind TCU provides clear access to assistance modes, battery status and ride information. Through the Specialized app, riders can tune motor support, customise the display, record rides and manage the Turbo system.
Turbo System Lock can disable motor support when the bike is parked, while Apple Find My compatibility provides an additional way to keep track of the bike.

Riders regularly tackling bike-park terrain, large impacts and sustained rough descents may be better served by the longer-travel Levo 4 EVO. The Levo R is at its best where speed, flow and responsive handling matter most.
Our Thoughts
The Levo R Comp is one of the more interesting bikes in the Levo range because it does not simply chase more travel. Its lighter carbon chassis, 140/130mm suspension and rally geometry give it a noticeably quicker feel than the standard Levo 4.
The S1000 AXS drivetrain is a strong inclusion at this level. It provides clean electronic shifting and draws power from the main bike battery, so there is no separate derailleur battery to remember. The FOX 36 SL and GENIE shock also suit the bike’s intentions well, providing control without dulling its handling.
If you want the most capable Levo for rough descents, choose the EVO. If your riding is built around fast singletrack, technical climbs and covering ground quickly, the Levo R Comp is likely to be the more entertaining bike.
