The Specialized Turbo Levo R Expert combines the full-power assistance of the Levo 4 platform with a lighter, sharper chassis built for riders who value speed, precision and responsive handling.
Its 140mm front and 130mm rear suspension package gives the Levo R enough control for technical terrain without taking away the lively character that makes it so much fun on fast, flowing trails.
The result is a bike that accelerates quickly, changes direction easily and feels properly connected to the ground. It still has the power and battery capacity for big climbing days, but its real strength is how naturally it carries speed across varied terrain.
The Rally Car of E-MTBs
The Levo R uses the same full-power Turbo foundation as the Levo 4, but its intent is different. The lower-travel chassis, rally-focused geometry and lighter build make it noticeably more responsive than a longer-travel full-power e-MTB.
Specialized offers Levo R builds as light as 18.8kg, but that figure applies to the separate S-Works Ultralight model. This Expert build has a claimed weight of 21.76kg in size S3, which is still impressively light for a full-power e-MTB with an 840Wh battery.

Specialized 3.1 Full-Power System
The Specialized 3.1 motor delivers up to 810 watts of peak power and 105Nm of torque. Power comes in smoothly and predictably, making it easier to maintain traction on loose climbs and manage the bike through technical sections.
Rather than simply delivering a hard surge of assistance, the system monitors rider input and meters its support to suit the situation. This gives the Levo R plenty of climbing power without making it difficult to control.
840Wh Battery and Configurable Range
The integrated Turbo X2 840Wh battery provides the capacity needed for long trail rides and repeated climbing.
The optional 280Wh Range Extender increases total available capacity to 1,120Wh and provides up to five hours of claimed riding time. Actual range will depend on assistance mode, rider weight, terrain, elevation, temperature and riding conditions.

The MasterMind TCU has a clear 2.2-inch display and connects with the Specialized app, allowing you to customise assistance, monitor ride information and manage the Turbo system. Apple Find My compatibility and Turbo System Lock provide useful additional security.
FACT 11m Carbon Rally Chassis
The FACT 11m carbon frame has 130mm of rear-wheel travel, adjustable geometry and internal SWAT storage in the downtube. It is designed to keep the bike light and responsive without giving up the strength required for aggressive trail riding.
The Levo R places the rider in a forward, centred position that helps the front wheel hold a line through corners and keeps the bike balanced on steep climbs.
Internal SWAT storage provides room for trailside repair essentials without needing to carry everything in your pockets or riding pack.
FOX Performance Elite Suspension with GENIE
A FOX 36 SL Performance Elite fork provides 140mm of travel with a GRIP X damper. High-speed compression, low-speed compression and rebound adjustments allow the fork to be tuned for the rider and local terrain.
At the rear, the FOX FLOAT Performance Elite shock uses Specialized’s GENIE dual-air-spring system. GENIE provides a supple beginning stroke for grip, useful mid-stroke support and greater resistance as the shock moves towards bottom-out.
The result is a 130mm rear suspension system that handles rougher terrain better than the travel figure might suggest while retaining the efficiency and quick response expected from the Levo R.
SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission
SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission provides precise electronic shifting with a wide 10–52T cassette. The direct-mount derailleur is built to shift under load, which is particularly useful on a full-power e-MTB where the motor and rider can place considerable pressure through the drivetrain.
The wireless AXS Pod controller keeps the handlebar tidy and allows its button functions to be customised through SRAM’s AXS system.
Roval Traverse SL II Carbon Wheels
Roval Traverse SL II carbon wheels are a meaningful upgrade on the Expert build. They reduce rotating weight while retaining the strength needed for proper trail riding.
The hookless carbon rims have a 30mm internal width, providing a stable base for the 2.4-inch Specialized Purgatory tyres. Industry Nine 1/1 hubs offer quick engagement and straightforward serviceability.
Wheel Size and Fit
Sizes S2 through S6 use 29-inch wheels front and rear for efficient rollover, predictable handling and strong momentum across rough ground.
Size S1 uses a 29-inch front wheel with a 27.5-inch rear wheel. This gives smaller riders better clearance and a more proportionate fit while retaining the rollover benefits of a larger front wheel.
Specialized S-Sizing allows some riders to choose between neighbouring sizes according to the handling they prefer. A smaller size will generally feel more agile, while sizing up adds room and high-speed stability.

The Turbo Levo R Expert is one of the strongest-value builds in the Levo R range. The FACT carbon frame, FOX Performance Elite suspension, GX AXS Transmission and Traverse SL II carbon wheels are all components most riders can keep and ride without immediately thinking about upgrades.
It feels quick when accelerating, easy to place through technical sections and more willing to change direction than most full-power e-MTBs. The 840Wh battery also means you do not have to sacrifice useful range to get that sharper handling.
If you want the performance advantages of the Levo R with a properly high-end specification, but do not need the S-Works price tag, the Expert is likely to be the sweet spot.
