The Specialized Turbo Vado 3 X 4.0 is a full-power, full-suspension e-bike made for riders who want more comfort and capability than a conventional urban bike. It is equally at home handling daily transport, longer weekend rides, gravel roads and easier off-road tracks.
A Specialized 3.1 motor provides up to 810W of peak power and 105Nm of torque, supported by a large 840Wh battery. With 130mm of front suspension, 120mm of rear travel and wide 2.6-inch tyres, the Vado 3 X takes the sting out of rough roads and gives you more control when the surface becomes loose or uneven.
Strong, Smooth Motor Assistance
The Specialized 3.1 motor delivers plenty of support for steep climbs, loaded trips and longer rides. Its power responds naturally to your pedalling, making the bike easier to control in traffic, through tighter corners and on loose surfaces.
The integrated 840Wh battery provides a claimed range of up to 150km. Actual range will depend on the assistance mode, terrain, rider weight, temperature, wind and how much gear you are carrying.
Full Suspension for Real-World Comfort
The Vado 3 X combines a 130mm SR Suntour suspension fork with a RockShox Deluxe Select rear shock providing 120mm of travel. This is considerably more suspension than you will find on a typical commuter e-bike.
The result is a smoother and more settled ride across broken roads, potholes, gravel tracks and easier off-road terrain. It also helps the tyres maintain contact with the ground, improving control when braking or cornering on rough surfaces.
This is not intended to replace a dedicated full-suspension mountain bike for technical trail riding. It is best viewed as a highly capable all-terrain e-bike for riders who value comfort, stability and the freedom to explore beyond sealed roads.
Shimano CUES Wide-Range Gearing
The Shimano CUES 10-speed drivetrain uses an 11–48T cassette, giving you a useful spread of gears for climbing, everyday riding and faster sections of open road. A Shadow Plus rear derailleur helps keep the chain controlled when riding over rough surfaces.
The 48-tooth chainring includes chain-retention technology and a guard, providing practical gearing while helping keep clothing away from the drivetrain.
Four-Piston Hydraulic Brakes
Tektro HD-T5040 four-piston hydraulic brakes provide the stopping power needed for a full-power e-bike of this size. They use thicker 2.3mm rotors and substantial brake pads, giving you better control on steeper descents, in wet conditions and when the rear rack is loaded.
Integrated Display and USB-C Charging
The colour display is built neatly into the stem, keeping ride information and system controls clearly visible without cluttering the handlebar. A Turbo Ergonomic Remote allows assistance settings to be adjusted without taking your hand away from the grip.
A USB-C port beside the display can be used to charge a compatible phone or device while riding. Unlike the Vado 3 EVO 6.0, the Vado 3 X 4.0 does not include an integrated wireless Quad Lock charger.
Built-In Security Features
Turbo System Lock allows the motor system to be disabled through the Specialized app, while built-in Apple Find My compatibility can help locate the bike through Apple’s Find My network.
The side-entry battery is also secured with an Abus key lock. These features add useful protection, but we still recommend using a high-quality physical lock whenever the bike is left unattended.
Equipped for Everyday Transport
The Vado 3 X 4.0 comes with the practical equipment needed for commuting and longer trips. Its rear rack carries up to 25kg and includes integrated straps, MIK compatibility and fittings for compatible QL3.1 and Arkel bags.
An optional MIK front rack can also be fitted and is rated to carry up to 10kg. Extra-long metal mudguards, integrated lights, an adjustable kickstand, anti-slip pedals and a bell are all included.

The Vado 3 X 4.0 is a good fit for riders who like the practicality of a Vado but want considerably more comfort and control on rough surfaces. The full-suspension frame is the main point of difference, making it particularly useful for mixed-surface commuting, gravel roads and longer rides where comfort matters.
The 105Nm motor and 840Wh battery give it the power and range expected from a premium full-power e-bike. Shimano CUES mechanical shifting is straightforward and durable, while the included rack, mudguards and lights mean very little needs to be added before using the bike for everyday transport.
Its weight is the main consideration. This is not the right Vado for someone who regularly needs to lift their bike, but for riders who prioritise comfort, range and ride-anywhere versatility, it is a very capable option.
