The 2027 Specialized Turbo Vado 3 X 5.0 is a full-suspension, all-terrain e-bike built for everyday transport, long recreational rides and exploring beyond sealed roads.
Its Specialized 3.1 motor delivers up to 810 W and 105 Nm of torque, backed by a removable 840 Wh battery with up to 150 km of claimed range. A 130 mm RockShox Psylo fork and 120 mm of rear suspension provide comfort and control across sealed roads, gravel tracks and rougher trails.
The 5.0 specification adds a 2.2-inch colour touchscreen, SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission, four-piston brakes, a manual wheel lock and built-in Apple Find My. An optional wireless charging Quad Lock phone mount can also be added to the integrated cockpit.
Specialized 3.1 Full-Power System
The Specialized 3.1 motor produces up to 810 W and 105 Nm, giving the Vado 3 X plenty of assistance for steep climbs, loaded riding and longer journeys.
Its power delivery draws on the same SuperNatural approach used in the Levo 4 mountain-bike system. Assistance responds naturally to rider input, making the bike easy to manage at low speeds and predictable when climbing on loose surfaces.
The system carries an IP67 rating, providing protection against the rain, spray and dirt encountered during regular year-round riding.
Removable 840 Wh Battery
The Specialized Turbo X2 840 Wh battery provides up to 150 km of claimed range under Specialized’s stated test conditions.
The side-entry design allows the battery to be removed for charging, added security or easier transport. Removing it also reduces some of the bike’s weight when lifting it onto a suitable rack or moving it into storage.
A removable battery is particularly useful when staying somewhere that does not allow bikes indoors or where a convenient power point is not available near the bike.
For longer rides, the Vado 3 X is compatible with the optional Specialized Full Power Range Extender. The 280 Wh Range Extender increases total available capacity to 1,120 Wh.
Actual range depends on assistance level, rider weight, carried load, elevation, wind, temperature, tyre pressure and riding surface.
Full Suspension for Greater Comfort
The Vado 3 X uses a 130 mm RockShox Psylo suspension fork and a RockShox Deluxe Select rear shock controlling 120 mm of rear-wheel travel.
This is considerably more suspension than a conventional urban e-bike. It helps take the sting out of broken seal, potholes, corrugated gravel and rough tracks while keeping the tyres in better contact with the ground.
Full suspension is also useful for riders who find rigid commuter bikes uncomfortable over longer distances. The Vado 3 X remains composed and stable without requiring the aggressive riding position of a mountain bike.
SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission
SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission provides a wide-range mechanical 12-speed drivetrain with a 10–52T cassette. The low gears make steep climbs more manageable, while the higher ratios remain useful on open roads and cycleways.
The T-Type drivetrain is designed to shift cleanly under load, which is particularly useful when climbing with motor assistance. Mechanical operation keeps the system straightforward to adjust and avoids another electronic battery to charge.
Four-Piston Hydraulic Brakes
SRAM DB6 four-piston hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power needed for a full-power e-bike that may be carrying shopping, work equipment or touring gear.
The additional control of a four-piston system is useful on long descents and in wet conditions, particularly when the bike is fully loaded.
27.5-Inch All-Terrain Wheels
Specialized Hemisphere Flat Resistant All-Terrain Reflect tyres measure 27.5 x 2.6 inches, providing a broad and stable contact patch.
The high-volume tyres add comfort and grip on loose surfaces, while reinforced inner tubes provide additional puncture protection. Reflective sidewalls improve visibility during early morning, evening and low-light riding.
The wheels use Specialized alloy rims, sealed-bearing hubs and DT Swiss Elemental spokes for dependable everyday use.
Integrated Touchscreen Cockpit
The integrated cockpit incorporates a 2.2-inch colour touchscreen for ride information, assistance settings and system control. A Turbo ergonomic remote keeps the main controls within easy reach while riding.
The Vado 3 X 5.0 is compatible with an optional wireless charging Quad Lock phone mount. This provides secure phone mounting and charging for navigation without adding a separate handlebar-mounted power bank.
The wireless charging Quad Lock mount is optional and is not included as standard with the 5.0 model.
Practical Security Features
The Vado 3 X 5.0 combines a manual wheel lock, an ABUS-secured removable battery and built-in Apple Find My compatibility.
Apple Find My allows the bike’s location to be viewed through a compatible Apple device. The bike can also be connected to the Specialized app for system setup, ride recording and assistance tuning.
These features provide useful extra security, but we still recommend using a high-quality physical lock whenever the bike is left unattended.
Ready for Everyday Transport
A 25 kg-capacity rear rack is fitted as standard and includes integrated straps with MIK Stud, QL3.1 and Arkel compatibility. The bike is also compatible with a separately available MIK front rack carrying up to 10 kg.
A Supernova headlight provides high and low beams with up to 800 lumens. The rack-mounted rear light includes an automatic brake-light function.
Full-length metal-profile mudguards, an adjustable alloy kickstand, anti-slip pedals and a bell are also included, so the bike arrives properly equipped for regular transport and recreational riding.

Although the Vado 3 X has generous suspension and wide tyres, it is not a dedicated technical mountain bike. Its 31.35 kg claimed weight, longer wheelbase and extensive equipment are designed around comfort, stability, range and carrying capacity rather than jumps or aggressive downhill riding.
Our Thoughts
The Vado 3 X 5.0 is likely to be the sweet spot in the full-suspension Vado range. It uses the same 810 W motor, 840 Wh battery, suspension platform and practical equipment as the more expensive 6.0, but keeps things simpler with a mechanical Eagle 70 drivetrain and manual security system.
The touchscreen remains a worthwhile feature, and riders who want phone charging can add the optional Quad Lock system later. The mechanical Transmission is also a sensible choice for anyone who values straightforward servicing and does not want another electronic component to manage.
At 31.35 kg it is still a substantial bike, so it will not suit anyone regularly carrying their e-bike upstairs or lifting it onto a roof-mounted rack. For riders with suitable storage who want comfort, range and genuine mixed-surface ability, it is a very complete package.
